Hello, My name is Walker Morris and I am contacting you regarding the ceasefire resolution being voted on May 7th. I first want to thank you for serving the community, as I know being city council cannot always be easy. Secondly, I know this resolution discusses a national issue vs local, but I would like to remind you this very council voted in favor of Ukraine ceasefire when they were under assault from Russia. Growing up as a pastors kid, I was taught one side to this and after October 7th, I quickly educated myself and realized the harsh reality Palestinians face. After this, I decided I would do everything in my power to end their pain and fight for their freedoms. I’m tired of witnessing the genocide take place while I sit here and can’t do anything, I’m tired of my tax dollars being spent to fund the genocide and I’m tired of begging other people to care about humans lives as much as I do. At this point, it isn’t confusing on what is taking place. It’s mass murder of thousands of people with OUR tax dollars and bombs being used to do it. We must stand up as a community and say we do not support this and we will not keep funding this. Arkansas sends millions to Israel directly and that money could be used to help us and our community, rather than fund the destruction of another. Thank you for your time and I hope we can get your support on this resolution as truly, it’s life or death for Palestinians. Best wishes, Walker Morris 4175407556 (here is my number if you would like to discuss this over a phone call) P.S.: attached are a couple poems I wrote as sometimes the only way to express pain is writing it out.
