Fleet is recommending replacement with an upgraded heavier load trailer more capable for the Water Sewer Department. A budget adjustment will be presented for City Council Approval. February 2024 Equipment Committee Unit 775 has reached replacement with a FASTER score of 15/15 points. It is having an increasing amount of mechanical repairs that are increasing downtime and affecting front line service for the Transportation Division. Fleet recommends on time replacement. The Fayetteville Police Department’s Parks and Trails division emphasizes trail safety and building and sustaining community relations while patrolling the City of Fayetteville’s 55 miles of multi-use trails, 55 miles of soft surface trails, and 37 parks consisting of 4,202 acres and three lakes. The officers assigned to this unit regularly utilize bicycles and all-terrain vehicles for their patrols; however, it is imperative for public safety to have a means to quickly access our ever-growing parks and trail systems in the event of an emergency and for crime prevention. The police department’s current bicycles and all-terrain vehicles lack the range and ability to handle some of our more remote areas, such as Kessler Park, Centennial Park, and Lake Wilson. This asset that was approved by City Council in the 2024 budget will also allow our officers to be able to more adequately patrol the parks and trail systems during inclement weather. Currently, officers must attempt to patrol the parks and trails system in a patrol vehicle during inclement weather. Unit 9210 has had increasing mechanical issues and will need to be replaced to maintain front line operations for the Parks Division. This is a budgeted 2023 purchase. A like unit will be purchased in its place. 2090u has a current faster score of 15/15 points and is in need of substantial repairs. Fleet is recommending its replacement with a new unit as there is not any assets on the surplus line to replace it. This would be a perfect unit by utilization for an EV vehicle.
