HomeMy WebLinkAbout34-24 RESOLUTIONFile Number: 2024-1634 113 West Mountain Street Fayetteville , AR 72701 (479) 575-8323 Resolution: 34-24 NINTH ANNUAL NATIONAL DAY OF RACIAL HEALING (RECOGNITION): A RESOLUTION TO RECOGNIZE THE NINTH ANNUAL NATIONAL DAY OF RACIAL HEALING ON JANUARY 24 , 2024 WHEREAS, the Annual National Day of Racial Healing should be celebrated in Fayetteville at the Fayetteville City Hall at noon on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 ; and WHEREAS , this celebration event should explore how to reconcile the past and proactively promote healing and justice for all; and WHEREAS , the W.K . Kellogg Foundation 's Truth , Racial Healin g, and Transformation network supports the National Day of Racial Healing ; and WHEREAS the National Day of Racial Healing helps our citizens to contemplate shared values and a future where race is not a predictor of outcomes ; and WHEREAS , the National League of Cities encourages cities to participate and honor the National Day of Racial Healin g . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section I: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkan sas hereby recognizes that January 24, 2024 , is and s hould be recognized in Fayetteville as the National Day of Racial Healing and requests that a portion of Fayetteville City Hall be made available at noon on January 24 th for an event to proactively promote healing and justice for all. HOLIDAY WHEREAS, the Annual National Day of Racial Healing should be celebrated in Fayetteville at the Fayetteville City Hall at noon on Wednesday, January 17, 2024; and WHEREAS, this celebration even should explore how to reconcile the past and proactively promote healing and justice for all; and WHEREAS, the W.K.
