HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-09-07 - Minutes - PAGE 1 OF 2 FAYETTEVILLE – DRAKE FIELD Airport Board Minutes September 21st, 2023 MEMBERS PRESENT: Zane Chenault, Charles Wallace, Monty Roberts, Richard Rost, John Holley MEMBERS ABSENT: David Hopper, David Hinton, Chris Brown/City, Terry Gulley/City OTHERS PRESENT: Jared Rabren/City, Dee McCoy/City, Tamra Kesner/City, Laci Prince/Museum, Rick McKinney/Member of the Public, LaNita McKinney/Member of the Public ITEM # 1: Approval of the Airport Board Minutes for August 17th th, 2023 • A motion to approve the August 17th, 2023 was made by Monty Roberts. John Holley seconded the motion. The motion carried. ITEM # 2: Receiving of Reports : • FAA RUNWAY REHAB AND LIGHTING PROJECT: The only remaining item on this project is the transfer switch for the new light vault. The contractor stated the new arrival date is the scheduled for the first week in October. • FUEL FARM REHABILITATION PROJECT: This project received council approval on September 5th. The contractor is currently sourcing materials and will update us soon with an anticipated start date. • AIRPORT MASTER PLAN UPDATE: The Steering Committee had its first meeting on August 30th. Garver is now working on survey and audit work. • WILDLIFE FENCE REHABILITATION: This project received council approval on September 5th. Contractors have begun delivering materials and light site work this week. • TAXIWAY ECHO EXTENSION: The Environmental Assessment is currently on going. • FUEL VENDOR RFP: We are continuing forward with the transition from Avfuel to Titan Aviation Fuels. Our official go-live date will be September 27th, at which point we will begin taking Titan Contract fuel in lieu of Avfuel. Financial Report: • As of August 31st, 2023 the FBO revenue totaled $2,426,922.18 and the expenses totaled $1,747,313.40 for a total profit of $176,154.68. • There are no vacant T-Hangars with 103 people on the waiting list. One new hangar lease was signed in August. MUSEUM REPORT: Laci Prince stated there were a few days that the hangar reached 120 degrees and the museum had to be closed due to no air conditioning in the buildings. The annual Museum free day is this coming Saturday, September 22nd and she invited everyone to attend. There are two events coming up. A dance and Golf Tournament at the Creeks that the museum is looking forward to hosting. PAGE 2 OF 2 Update on Cemetery on Airport Report: LaNita McKinney discussed the cemetery that is on the South end of Runway 34 behind Greenland schools. There is a need for it to be cleared and kept up because it is overgrown at this point. LaNita McKinney suggested reaching out to the Arkansas State Prehistoric Officer to seek guidance on the best way to provide upkeep for these tombstone. Jared Rabren stated he would reach out and see if he could get more information on this. ITEM #4: New Business: • Report from Airport Strategic Planning Committee: Jared Rabren gave an overview of the meeting notes to the Airport Board from the Master Plan Update Strategic Planning Meeting . The main priorities for the master plan update are: safety, efficiency, and customer experience and how Drake Field can improve in each of these areas. *See attached notes from the meeting. Items from the Public: • Rick McKinney asked about the leak at the end of hangar F and if it was scheduled to be fixed.
