  • Does your project meet the below requirements for quick and easy approval? Projects that do not meet the criteria listed here are not impossible, but they will require special consideration and longer approval times. If you indicate "no" to any of the following, please include an explanation of why your project should still be feasible in the field at the end of this section.

  • Does your site avoid State Highways? (Examples: I-49, College Avenue/71B, Archibald Yell, MLK Jr. Boulevard, 15th Street/Huntsville Road, Wedington Drive, etc.)

  • Does your site avoid streets classified as arterial? A Master Street Plan map is available for reference.

  • Is your site a public right of way? (i.e. street, trail, public pass through)

  • Does your project avoid interference with normal operation for delivery trucks, public transit routes/stops, or trash/recycling pick-up?

  • Does your project design preserve minimum clearance around a fire hydrant? (see application guidelines)

  • Does your project preserve access to driveways? (see application guidelines)

  • Does your project design preserve full access for emergency vehicles?

  • Are all street closures needed for your project expected to last less than 8 hours? Streets or public right-of-ways closed for more than 8 hours require signatures of approval from property owners/managers and/or occupants along and within 300-feet of a City street or City parking lot.

  • Have you notified your neighbors about the possibility of this project?

  • Please attach the following materials:

    • 3-5 photographs of your proposed project location, and any measurement information you were able to collect. (Measurement information not required - do not enter the street if it is not safe to do so!)
    • A site plan (sketches, or drawings depicting your vision for the completed project).
