Approval of August 1, 2022 Meeting Minutes PRAB Motion: Freund moved to approve August meeting minutes. Davis seconded the motion. Motion passed 5-0-0. 6. Story Walk Proposal: Fayetteville Public Library, Joanna Bell, Arts and Culture Director Bell discussed the following: • A Story Walk is an innovative way for children to enjoy reading in the outdoors. • It takes a children's book and displays the pages along an outdoor path. • Friends of the Fayetteville Public Library has a proposal to fund this project for the city. • It will be a partnership between the library and the city to install the first Story Walk in Fayetteville, sometime this year. PRAB Motion: Freund moved to support the Story Walk, in conjunction with the library and parks. Davis seconded the motion. Motion passed 7-0-0. 7. Active Transportation Advisory Committee Update: Yarri Davis Davis discussed the following: • Gordon Long Park has a new warning system through the tunnel. • Wilson Park, Rebekah to Prospect project, is largely complete. Strategic Master Plan & Construction Update: Ted Jack, Planning Superintendent Jack discussed the following: • Gregory Park — Jason added the bike rider to the tail. • Working on installing water fountain at Gregory Park. Beaver Watershed Alliance donated the water fountain and maintenance staff will install. • At Wilson Park, bid is out to put different items in the concrete, by the promenade. Staff is looking for suggestions. • At Gulley Park, department awarded a Variance for work on the playground. • Strategic Master Plan, staff is hoping to have draft at the October meeting, or maybe hold a separate meeting for board to discuss. Staff is hoping to get passed by City Hall before the end of this year. • Bond Funds Phase 2: 1. Lake Fayetteville work on Softball Fields. 2. Master Planner working on Underwood Park. On September 24t" there will be a Public Meeting on Site. 3. YRCC Expansion — design has been solidified. Department recently received a matching grant from Walton Family Foundation. Staff looking to start construction at the beginning of next year. This will also include some improvements to Buddy Hayes Park. 4. Wilson Park Hub building will bid in the next couple of months. 5. Planning will begin for the Combs/River Nature Park. 6. Staff is working on contract with work at Walker Park. This will kick-off with the Master Plan. 12.
