BACKGROUND: Roberts Road connects Goff Farm Road to Huntsville Road and crosses City and County jurisdictions. The section of Roberts road being considered for traffic calming is in City right of way, has no sidewalks and is classified at a residential link street with a posted speed limit of 25 MPH. DISCUSSION: Based on traffic speed and volume studies conducted by City staff Roberts Road has an average speed of 31.8 MPH and an 85th percentile speed of 37.7 MPH and an ADT of 584. The 85th percentile speed qualifies Roberts Road for traffic calming under the City's policy. Residents of the street have also submitted signatures that meet the 60% approval requirements under the city's policy. The layout that was requested the residents includes 5 sets of speed cushions. A representative from Washington County requested that the two southernmost sets be removed from the plans. Based on post installation data collected on Ash Street staff is also supportive of reducing the overall number of speed cushions for an initial installation from five sets down to one or two sets. BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT: Est. $10,0000 - $2,000 material cost Attachments: E-Mail from Washington County Speed Study Layout Locations of Speed Cushions Signature sheet Mailing Address: 113 W. We would prefer that the last two speed tables 4194 East Point and 4195 East Point be omitted from the plan. Due to plowing the county road these may interfere with our operations. t2e f f 1fcowdec CP,oad jyelt&tendent Wabhington ifountou ckoad.Department 2675-Br&A -Ac.
