• Manages clean-ups around Fayetteville
• Education on native and invasive plants
• Since maintenance moved to Public Works, it will expand the reach, to include street
areas and streets
• Reviewed how to utilize the City's calendar to see upcoming volunteer events
9. Apple Seeds Annual Report: Mary Thompson, Executive Director Apple Seeds
Thompson discussed the Apple Seeds Annual Report:
• Nonprofit teaching farm at Gulley Park
• Building a healthy future with nutrition and food as a solid foundation
• They were able to reach 15,000 kids, but due to Covid, they were reached in a
different way
• Work with students at schools who have higher free or reduced lunch rate, those who
don't have access to produce and may not be familiar with what a lot of these foods
are
• In Arkansas, one in every four kids is considered food insecure
• Half of the kids consume less than one fruit or vegetable a day
Teach the kids to harvest the food and they go into the kitchen and prepare the food
• Utilized virtual learning, since they were unable to go into the classrooms, they got a
produce bundle and a recipe
• Virtually, it spread to other states and countries
• 71 % of the students reported when they leave the program, they were willing to eat
vegetables
• 1300 students viewed the virtual program, and 1,000 teachers downloaded the
program
• 15,382 students were reached, 2,316 in person, 13,066 virtual
• 2021 Annual Budget $464K

Eifling, Mobility Coordinator, discussed the following:
• Shared the primary logo of the Fayetteville Trails
• Fayetteville Trails — South Loop — arrow icon with an orange color
• Fayetteville Trails — Parkside Loop — tree icon with a green color
Brink said he had a concern with the south loop being a direction arrow. He thought he
may confuse people.
Freund asked them to consider a color-blind person would confuse, red, green or
brown.
Dockery said the logo for the Fayetteville Trail looks like fst, not ft.
11. YRCC Expansion Update: Lee Farmer, Recreation Superintendent
Farmer discussed the following:
• Series of online and in person surveys for public input
• Shared a snapshot of the survey results — Recreation Rooms, Kitchen for cooking and
nutrition classes, and Classroom for Adult Education rated highest
• The expansion would take up some parking spaces, some off-street parking will be
added off of Mill Street
• The expansion would be outward and upward, with an urban design to bring the
activity to the front of the street
• Enhance Buddy Hayes Park
• Shared layout of expansion
• Included in Phase II Bond Project, hoping to bid out later this year
